Department of Interdisciplinary Learning and Teaching

The Department of Interdisciplinary Learning and Teaching is the largest department in our college. We're on the cutting edge of teacher preparation trends in the state of Texas and nationally. For the past 47 years, we have been preparing educators through a community-based learning and teaching model of teacher preparation. Our department focuses on a social justice perspective in its undergraduate and graduate programs. Students receive the preparation and training necessary to become effective citizens and educators in culturally diverse settings.

Undergraduate Programs

We offer undergrad programs designed to prepare future teachers to be culturally efficacious agents of change in PK-12 education.

Graduate Programs

We offer advanced training in five areas including Special Education and Reading as well as a Ph.D. for those interested in further developing as researchers. Check out these degrees and our certificates.

Faculty

We are dedicated to our students’ success and strive to provide the opportunity to deepen their learning in whatever focus area they so choose. Our faculty are engaged in funded research from organizations like NSF and IES that provide our students opportunities to develop their skills.
