Deepti Tagare Headshot

Bio

I am a postdoctoral fellow in the Bridge to Faculty program at the University of Texas at San Antonio. I have a Ph.D. in Learning Design and Technology from Purdue University. As an engineer turned educational researcher my primary area of research is computer science education. I investigate the integration of computational thinking skills and AI literacy in K-12 education with a special focus on teacher-readiness to implement these competencies in their teaching. I work closely with Association of Computing Machinery - India to facilitate teacher trainings on computational thinking skills. As part of the NSF funded project, DEAPening Employer-Academia Partnership, I examined the need for cross-disciplinary skills and dispositional competencies in undergraduate computing degree program curricula and continue to work with computer science faculty across various higher education institutions in the US to implement this change in their courses.  In the past 10 years, I have worked on several instructional design projects in both industry and academia that include smartbooks, ebooks, AI-based learning platforms, Augmented Reality learning environments, and gamified learning content.
