Bio

Dr. Rebecca Stortz is part of the literacy faculty as an assistant professor of practice at The University of Texas at San Antonio where she teaches children’s literature and writing development in the educator preparation program. Her research interests include culturally-responsive and socially-just teaching practices, the importance of textual knowledge for reading instruction, and the encouragement of teacher commitment via early-career experiences. She is the director of the San Antonio Writing Project, a local site of the National Writing Project.
