FAQ

Is this open to graduate or post-baccalaureate students?

No. This award is for undergraduate students only taking courses within the UTeachSA program.

How is the $20,000 distributed?

Across two academic years, contingent on continued eligibility.

What counts as a high-needs school or district?

High-needs schools are vibrant, diverse learning communities where your impact matters most. These schools often serve students from a wide range of cultural and economic backgrounds. They are designated by the state or district as needing additional support in areas like math and science instruction.

As a Noyce Scholar, you’ll have the opportunity to teach in classrooms where passionate, well-prepared STEM teachers can make a lasting difference. The UTSA Noyce team will work with you to identify partner districts and schools that match your interests and meet state “high-needs” criteria.

Can I apply if I’m early in my major?

Yes, applicants should have at least two years remaining in their degree program to ensure time to complete teacher certification and participate fully in all Noyce program activities.

Do I need prior teaching experience?

Not required; interest and potential to teach STEM are key.
