The academic journals featured below represent a selection of those edited and managed by faculty at the College of Education and Human Development. These publications reflect the range of scholarly research and creative work being conducted across our academic community. Each journal serves as a platform for advancing knowledge, engaging in critical dialogue, and contributing to fields ranging from educational psychology to bicultural-bilingual studies, and beyond.
The American Educational Research Journal (AERJ) is the flagship journal of the American Educational Research Association, featuring articles that advance the empirical, theoretical, and methodological understanding of education and learning. It publishes original peer-reviewed analyses that span the field of education research across all subfields and disciplines and all levels of analysis. It also encourages submissions across all levels of education throughout the life span and all forms of learning. AERJ welcomes submissions of the highest quality, reflecting a wide range of perspectives, topics, contexts, and methods, including interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary work.
The Association of Mexican American Educators (AMAE) Journal is a national, refereed, peer-reviewed journal that addresses interdisciplinary research and academic issues of importance in the education of Mexican-American/Latinx children and families to help inform those working in the field of educational studies. AMAE hopes their research is of service to other stakeholders, such as administrators, policymakers, teachers, civic leaders, grassroots organizers, and parents. The AMAE Journal is organized and focused to make an immediate impact at different educational levels, apprising different constituencies—from academia to policymakers to school districts to communities—on the conditions of Mexican-American/Latinx students and their families.
Journal of Cases in Educational Leadership (JCEL) publishes, in electronic format, peer-reviewed cases appropriate for use in educational leadership preparation efforts across the globe. Building on a long tradition the University Council for Education Administration (UCEA) sponsors this journal in an ongoing effort to improve the preparation and practice of educational leadership. The cases provide a narrative and teaching notes with the aim being to prompt rich discussion and inquiry about issues pertinent to educational leadership across global contexts. The journal's editorial staff seeks a wide range of cases that focus on timely and/or enduring issues germane to educational leadership preparation.
TESOL Journal (TJ) is a refereed, practitioner-oriented electronic journal based on current theory and research in the field of TESOL. TJ is a forum for second and foreign language educators at all levels to engage in the ways that research and theorizing can inform, shape, and ground teaching practices and perspectives. Articles enable an active and vibrant professional dialogue about research- and theory-based practices as well as practice-oriented theorizing and research.
The Texas Association of School Psychologists (TASP) is a state affiliate of the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP). TASP is an online, peer-reviewed journal that provides members with access to current research that impacts the practice of school psychology. The primary purpose of Research and Practice in the Schools is to meet the needs of TASP members for information on research-based practices in the field of school psychology.
