About Us

The Psychological Assessment and Consultation Center (PACC) is a mental health service provider associated with the Department of Educational Psychology at UT San Antonio. The PACC provides supervised training experiences to student clinicians in the graduate-level school psychology programs. Student clinicians are supervised by licensed faculty members.

We offer assessment services for children and adolescents covering a range of concerns (e.g., learning challenges, attention difficulties, emotional difficulties, and developmental concerns). We also offer assessment services for adults currently enrolled in postsecondary institutions that have learning and/or attention concerns. See the Assessment Services page for more details.

We offer highly structured counseling/psychotherapy services to address specific child/adolescent and adult concerns. Therapy services are limited. See the Therapy Services page for more details.

Appointments

Currently, we do not accept ‘walk-ins.’ All services are provided by appointment only. Persons visiting the PACC without a prior appointment will not be seen.

Additionally, the number of service appointments available is limited, so there is a chance that you will be added to a waitlist. We do not guarantee the immediate availability of services.

Services are not available during the summer months.

Fees for Services

Currently, all services are provided free of charge.

We anticipate introducing a sliding-scale fee soon, and we will update this section once we have made that change. Any clients beginning services before we implement a sliding-fee scale will not be charged for any service.

Frequently Asked Questions

The PACC offers evaluations for adults currently enrolled in a college or university, as well as children and adolescents. Clients must reside in the San Antonio area as our assessments are conducted in person.

Currently enrolled students in the San Antonio area seeking evaluation for university accommodations due to ADHD or learning disabilities including dyslexia. Children or adolescents whose caregivers suspect ADHD, anxiety, autism, behavioral issues, learning disabilities, depression, or developmental delay.

Virtual evaluations, custody evaluations, mental status and/or court mandated evaluations, alcohol and drug evaluations, expert witness testimony, sexual abuse forensic evaluations and interviews, immigration evaluations, suitability and/or mental fitness evaluations, evaluations for personality disorders. This is not an exhaustive list. For a list of types of evaluations that the PACC does provide, see above.

If you suspect your child may have a disability and may need special education services, your first option should be to seek an evaluation through your local school district. Even if you attend a private or charter school, you are eligible for an evaluation at your local school district where you reside.

Because our clinic is a university training site for graduate students, our clinic is limited in available assessment appointments. We are not open full-time and we follow a university calendar. The wait is typically about a year for an evaluation at this time, and the wait list does fill up quickly.

The assessment is conducted in person. The evaluation typically includes a comprehensive cognitive ("IQ") and achievement evaluation, in addition to rating scales and interview. We may ask to gather information from others close to the client with client consent in order to gather additional information in certain cases.

It varies, but there may be 2-3 testing sessions lasting 2-3 hours each session. The report is completed after all testing and information has been gathered and may take another several weeks after testing. Once testing is completed, the evaluator will complete a feedback session with the client.
