The Child Development Center
The UTSA Child Development Center provides child care services for UTSA students, staff, and faculty. The Center is licensed by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services and accredited by The National Association for the Education of Young Children. The Center is a Texas Rising Star Child Care Delivery Service Provider.
Women's Studies
Women's Studies is a field dedicated to scholarship and research that creates critical dialogue on the production of knowledge about and related to all women on the application of such knowledge to social and political practices and processes. It is an academic field that incorporates disciplinary, interdisciplinary, multidisciplinary, multicultural and/or global perspectives to advance the study of knowledge of all women. Women's Studies recognizes the integral connection among scholarship, activism and teaching.
Plaza de Lectura
UTSA’s Reading Place offers assistance in reading and writing to San Antonio area children. In addition, the UTSA Reading Place provides training for university students through teaching experiences and conducts research on problems in literacy learning. UTSA Reading Place is located at the downtown campus of UTSA on the third floor of the Buena Vista Building (BV 3.350). UTSA faculty from the College of Education and Human Development supervise tutors at the center.
The Community Family Life Center
The center is located in the Durango Building 3.304 at the downtown campus. They offer free counseling sessions to undergraduate students and jurors. It is equipped with three individual therapy rooms, a library resource center, and state of the art recording equipment in each room. Counseling sessions are conducted M-F 10:00am-8:00pm, and every 2nd & 4th Saturdays of each month 10:00 am-2:00 pm. For more information contact the center at 458-2055.
The Academy for Teacher Excellence (ATE)
ATE is a catalyst for the emergence of the COEHD as a nationally recognized leader in preparing teachers to teach diverse student populations and increasing the number of culturally and linguistically diverse students who enroll and graduate with bachelors and advanced degrees in education. ATE has two programs aimed at preparing teachers; Accelerated Teacher Education Program (ATEP), designed to prepare and certify mathematics and science secondary teachers, and the Teacher Academy Learning Community (TALC) which provides students with an opportunity to work with other students that have similar academic interests and have made a decision to tackle any barriers that may discourage them from completing a college education.
The Center on Educational Leadership, Policy, and Professional Development
The Center focuses on contemporary issues related to P-20 educational leadership, policy and providing professional development opportunities. It's mission is to conduct and publish research on policies and effective leadership practices. To bring together public school leaders, leaders from the private sector, university professors, education consultants and school reform leaders to work together to address issues faced by the public schools, and in turn draft strategies.
The Psychological Assessment and Consultation Center (PACC)
The lab and clinic are used by students in the School Psychology program to gain access to testing materials, work areas, books, and testing rooms.
