Katie McCance, Ph.D.

Bio

Katie McCance is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies at the University of Texas at San Antonio. She is an interdisciplinary and collaborative scholar specializing in STEM pedagogies, programs, and structures that promote opportunities and outcomes for historically marginalized students. She has worked extensively on projects funded by NSF, USDA, and HHMI. Dr. McCance's current work examines institutional structures that support STEM student success at Hispanic-Serving Institutions, experiences and outcomes of interdisciplinary STEM collaborations in higher education, and professional development for STEM graduate students and teaching assistants. She has published in journals such as Studies in Higher Education and AERA Open and has presented at numerous national conferences, including ASHE, AERA, NARST, and ASEE. Dr. McCance earned her Ph.D. and Master of Education in STEM Education from North Carolina State University (Raleigh, NC) and a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from Southwestern University (Georgetown, TX).
