Peggy Ceballos, Ph.D.

Bio

Peggy L. Ceballos, Ph.D, LPC-A, NCC, CCPT-S holds a PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision from the University of North Texas. She has held faculty and leadership roles at various institutions, including the University of North Texas and the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Dr. Ceballos specializes in culturally responsive and developmentally appropriate counseling interventions, particularly with underserved children and Spanish speaking communities. She has published extensively on multicultural counseling, play therapy, trauma-informed care, and social justice advocacy, earning research awards from the Association for Play Therapy and the American Counseling Association. Recently she received the Outstanding Alumni award from Southeastern Louisiana University’s College of Nursing and Health Sciences and the Jane Myers Lifetime Mentor Award from Chi Sigma Iota for her sustained commitment to mentorship and leadership development.
Dr. Ceballos is a Founding Board Member and current President-Elect of the Child Centered Play Therapy International Association and has served in multiple leadership and editorial roles for national and international counseling organizations. Her work blends scholarship, mentorship, and community engagement to advance equity, inclusion, and systemic change in counselor education and clinical practice.
