Former Community and Library Liaison, Women's Studies Institute
Daniele Rose Dixon earned her B.A. and M.A. in History from the University of Texas at San Antonio and later served as the Community and Library Liaison for the Democratizing Racial Justice initiative, where she built community relationships and led the design of the library portal.
Now, as the Project Associate for the Out(sider) Preservation Initiative at the Center for Cultural Landscapes at the University of Virginia, Daniele contributes her expertise to Dr. Andrea Roberts. She is passionate about preserving African American history and amplifying marginalized voices. As the point person for the Texas Freedom Colonies Project, Daniele maintains the Texas Freedom Colonies Atlas, diversifies storytelling, represents the organization at public events, and transforms educational programs.
While her focus is on Black history, Daniele is committed to preserving all communities, uncovering silenced stories, and exploring the legacy of social justice movements across America. Her mission is to partner with descendant communities to prevent the erasure of cultural properties and support the resilience of freedom colonies.
