Some deadlines can change from year to year, be sure to visit the scholarship websites to confirm the actual date as well as to learn more about the scholarships themselves. Some online scholarship applications may only be posted during certain times of the year.  Watch for the posting dates so that you can return to the website as soon as the application is available.

Each application has its own mailing address. Make sure you send your application to the address specified on the scholarship form. COEHD is not responsible for the content and deadlines in these external listings. It is the students' responsibility to verify the deadlines and eligibility requirements.

JANUARY APPLICATION DEADLINES

Community Hero Scholarship
Award: $5,000
Scholarship Launch: January 21st, 2020

Description: The team at Course Hero values community members’ that give back their time, energy, and resources to their community. In recognition of what these selfless individuals have contributed to improve their community, Course Hero is offering a $5,000 scholarship to a hard-working student who has completed 20 hours of community service in 2019.
Eligibility:

  • Applicants must be enrolled or accepted to a full-time or a two-year or four-year college, vocational, technical, or private career institution. Institution must be listed here: https://ope.ed.gov/dapip/#/home
  • Must be at least 16 years old.
  • Must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Description: The team at Course Hero Inc. values military members’ service to our nation. In recognition of what our nation’s service members and their families have contributed and sacrificed for our country, Course Hero Inc. offers a $5,000 scholarship upon a hard-working U.S. college student who is an active duty service member, a veteran, or a spouse or child of an active duty or retired service member.

Rise Up Scholarship for First Generation College Students
Award: $5,000
Scholarship Launch: January 21st, 2020

Description: The team at Course Hero recognizes the value and opportunity higher education offers. First generation college students often times have a difficult time finding the necessary funding for their education. In order to increase the chances of these students graduating, Course Hero is offering a $5,000 scholarship to students who are the first in their immediate family to attend college.

The Plastic Place Scholarship

Open to:  Incoming students for fall of 2015, who are US Citizens. The scholarship will be payable to the winner's college/university (in the US). Winners are not based on financial need. Home schooled students may apply as long as academic level is  equivalent to that of their peers. Scholarship awarded to students with an average SAT score of 1070 and average GPA of 3.5 or above.

Open to: Any student who has lived with and fought against any type of cancer, not limited to mesothelioma, is welcome to apply. We also encourage any students who have watched a family member or close friend go through the experience of fighting cancer.

Alpha Delta Kappa, Pi Chapter Scholarship

Renewable - $400 award to be disbursed in two installments

Deadline: Early October

Open to: Full time undergraduate female students, enrolled in the field of Education. Must have 2.5 minimum cumulative GPA.

International Education Financial Aid Fund

Awards range from $300 to $3,600

Deadline: October 15, for spring trips
Open to: Undergraduate students must have at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA; graduate students must have a cumulative 3.0. Students must provide evidence of a university-level GPA in order to apply

Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship

$2,000 a year for up to two years

DeadlineNovember 1st for the spring semester

Open to: Members of Phi Theta Kappa who are transferring to UTSA

15 (fifteen) $2000 annual scholarships awards Must be transferring from a community college, be a member of Phi Theta Kappa and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
