Degree:   B.A. Interdisciplinary Studies  (concentration in Bilingual education EC-6)

Hometown:   San Antonio, Texas

"I am from Lima, Peru, but I've been living in the States for over 15 years. I love spending time with my family, going to the gym, and dancing. I became a teacher to have a positive impact on the academic life of a child, and to help students reach their full potential. "

Why did you choose UTSA?

I chose UTSA because I believe that this institution has the best faculty;thus I would get the best educator preparation program.

What was your favorite class and/or who was your favorite professor? Why?

There were several professors that have made a lasting impact on educator preparation. I thank them all for having the heart of a teacher. Professors Helyde Torres, Lynda Cavazos, Marissa Munoz, Gilberto Lara, Bekisizwe Ndimande, Thomas Porter, etc. Thank you all!

What would you say is the most important thing you’ve learned over the course of your studies?

I've learned to apply myself to everything I do. To work with integrity and excellence. I learned to respect and value my languages and my student's languages.

What organizations or activities within COEHD that you’ve participated in?

Describe any professional experiences or internship opportunities you have had. What did you learn from these opportunities?
I participated in UTSA IES Pathway Program. This educational research training program will prepare you for graduate school. It is run by the most caring, wonderful, and brilliant scholars you will ever meet. I learned that I am very capable of doing research and that I can succeed in graduate school.

What is your fondest memory of your experience at UTSA?
My fondest memory is the friendships you build with some of your classmates and the respect and admiration you feel for many of your professors. They inspire me to be better and to do better.

What are your plans for the future and/or your career?
I am planning to become one of the best bilingual teachers on my campus and to finish graduate school.

What has brought you inspiration during this time?

My family is always an inspiration and a motivation to move forward, to achieve, and to succeed.

Congratulations to all of our Fall 2022 Graduates!
