Dr. García is a trailblazer and mentor whose UTB and TSC Presidency spanned over 28 years. During her tenure, she was instrumental in developing and implementing innovative leadership models to address the rapidly changing landscape of higher education. Notably, she played a key role in establishing The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.
In 2009, Time magazine recognized her as one of the Top 10 College Presidents in the U.S., and in 2014, Fortune magazine honored her as one of the World’s 50 Greatest Leaders.
