The Evolution of Writing: From tokens to computers

The 600-page volume includes 77 contributors and 93 images that represent half of a century of exemplary quantitative and qualitative research on writing. The chapters demonstrate the evolution of writing from vessel writing to computer writing. This timely book is described by one reviewer, Rene van der Veer, University of Leiden, The Netherlands, as covering “one of the most fundamental cultural inventions in human history that changed our mode of thinking and allowing communication across time and space.” The volume characterizes the fundamental growth of academic writing across the lifespan with multiple disciplines advanced in academia.
