My work in religious service at the mosque led me to professional counseling. It was a match made in heaven!  

Why did you choose UTSA? 

Highly recommended by people I trust. 

What was your favorite class and/or who was your favorite professor? Why? 

There are too many to only choose one. 

What would you say is the most important thing you’ve learned over the course of your studies? 

Sometimes we are our own greatest obstacles to success. 

Describe any organizations or activities within COEHD that you’ve participated in. 

NCE Bootcamp. 

Describe any professional experiences or internship opportunities you have had. 

A good supervisor has a major impact on professional development. 

What is your fondest memory of your time at UTSA? 

The relationships formed with faculty. 

How has COVID impacted you, either personally or professionally? 

It has changed how job searches are and I have been away from family for longer than ever. 

What are your plans for the future and/or your career? 

Hopefully a faculty position. 

What has brought you inspiration during this time? I.E. Music, books, people, etc. 

Faith. 

You’ve been given the opportunity to have coffee with any notable figure from your field, alive or dead. Who is it, and what does each of you order? 

Irving Yalom. He orders black coffee. I order a smoothie.
