Two members of UTSA’s College of Education and Human Development were included on the San Antonio Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 list for 2021. This annual list recognizes up-and-coming leaders in the San Antonio area for their business successes and community contributions.

This year, both faculty and students of UTSA were included on the list. One honoree was Langston Clark, Ph.D., Associate Professor with COEHD. Clark has been a professor at UTSA since 2015 and prepares students for careers as physical educators. His research focuses on PE teacher education within the context of Black communities, as well as how race, sports, and education interact. Clark has also taught courses on African American studies, focusing on the African American experience in athletics.

“It is a tremendous honor to have been selected as one of this year’s 40 Under 40,” Clark said in an emailed statement. “Since moving to San Antonio in January of 2015, both the city and UTSA have taught me what it means to be a citizen by providing me with opportunities to be a community-engaged scholar. I am thankful for the colleagues, administrators, and students who see the value of my work.”

Also recognized by the journal is Marisa Perez-Diaz, a District 3 representative on the Texas State Board of Education who is also earning a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership at UTSA.

This year’s 40 Under 40 Awards will be held virtually on March 25, 2021.
