Hometown: San Antonio

I’m a first-generation college student, born and raised in San Antonio. I completed my first master's degree in health and kinesiology from UTSA in 2011. I chose UTSA for both my master’s degrees because I wanted to pursue my studies in my hometown.

What was your favorite class and/or who was your favorite professor? Why? Principalship with Dr. Barnett. In this class, I got to complete a campus equity audit, analyze my campus' TAPR, and create my own campus vision.

What would you say is the most important thing you’ve learned over the course of your studies? The importance of social justice and educational equity.

What is your fondest memory of your time at UTSA? All the new friends I have met in my cohorts who I have collaborated with during my program.

How has COVID impacted you, either personally or professionally? It has given me an opportunity to use Zoom in my graduate classes and transition successfully to virtual learning.

What are your plans for the future and/or your career? Curriculum and Instruction or a Region 20 consultant.

What has brought you inspiration during this time? E.g., music, books, people, etc. Self-care with manicures and pedicures.
