Los Tejanos: A classic Texas story gets updated for a new era

On May 15, the Institute of Texan Cultures opened a new exhibit on one of the major cultural groups of Texas. "Los Tejanos" is about the Spanish and Mexican influence on the Lone Star State. Through 500 years of history, the Tejano culture helped shape what Texas is today. To celebrate the new exhibit and give the entire community a chance to see the exhibit, the museum will sponsor a free Sunday, May 17, noon to 5 p.m. It's a hands-on opportunity children and families can enjoy. Museum educators will lead preview tours of the exhibit and partner organizations will projects and crafts.
