UTSA to host Mexican American Studies academy for teachers

The University of Texas at San Antonio’s College of Education and Human Development is hosting the Mexican American Studies Teachers’ Academy June 17-21, 2019. The academy will take place at the Institute of Texan Cultures (ITC) and is open to secondary educators.

The weeklong academy will provide educators with resources, literature, information, and best practices on bringing Mexican American Studies into their classrooms. The materials provided are aligned to the social studies Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills objectives for middle and high school.

Participants can earn professional development hours and will receive a special tour of the ITC’s Los Tejanos exhibit.
