President Taylor Eighmy, Provost Kimberly Espy and VPIE Myron Anderson are all expected to attend and march alongside UTSA students, faculty, staff and alumni. The MLK, Jr. Parade theme this year is Dream, Believe, Unite, Do all of which UTSA believes and supports.

All UTSA students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to begin Spring Semester 2020 by participating on Monday, January 20, 2020 with the UTSA family at the annual Martin Luther King, Jr. March which began in San Antonio in 1968. The San Antonio MLK, Jr. march is the largest commemorative march for Dr. King in the United States and possibly the world.

The march will begin at 10:00 a.m. at the MLK Academy located at 3501 MLK Drive and end at Pittman-Sullivan Park, 1101 Iowa. UTSA will have tall orange balloons to assist with the location of our UTSA participants attempting to locate our group. All UTSA participants are encouraged to wear their orange UTSA to show the world a sea of UTSA spirit marching.

UTSA will offer free shuttle rides and orange long sleeve UTSA shirts for those who register at: https://bit.ly/34RgQa9. Buses will leave Main Campus at 8:15 a.m. from Brackenridge Ave. Lot 1 in front of the Convocation Center and at 8:45 a.m. from the Durango Lot at the Downtown Campus.

UTSA's MLK Jr. March Planning Committee was chaired by Karla Broadus, UTSA senior lecturer and Project Coordinator of the UTSA African American Studies program, and included faculty and staff from African American Studies, Inclusive Excellence, Student Leadership, Institute of Texas Cultures, Intercultural Programs and Student Engagement, Center for Civic Engagement, Information Technology Solutions, UTSA Video Production, the President's Office, and Honor’s College.

Save the date for the UTSA MLK, Jr. Day on campus, February 4, 2020. This is an annual event for our diverse campus population to honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Plan to join us as we Dream, Believe, Unite, DO, at 11:00 am at the 1604 campus.
