The College of Education and Human Development’s Teacher Preparation Program is proud to announce the initiation of a new electronic assessment and portfolio system for students, faculty, administration, and stakeholders. The web-based tool has been developed for assessing, and measuring student learning.

Dr. Duffey ACA Fellow

Dr. Thelma Duffey, Professor of Counseling and Department Chair in the Department of Counseling at the University of Texas at San Antonio was recently inducted as an ACA Fellow at the American Counseling Association Convention in Pittsburgh. Dr. Duffey was recognized for her dedication and many contributions to the counseling profession. Duffey, who joined the faculty at UTSA in 2004, spearheaded a series of counseling conferences in Texas.

UTSA Symposium to Discuss Challenges, Opportunities for Area Schools

The UTSA Center for Educational Leadership, Policy and Professional Development in the College of Education and Human Development will host its inaugural educational symposium with discussion focusing on challenges and ooportunities in Bexar County schools. Represenatives from the community will participate in discussion centering on the topic "How Can This Community Use All Its Assets to Provide the Best Education for All Children in Bexar County?"

UTSA Professor Rosalind Horowitz honored for publication

(May 2, 2008)--Rosalind Horowitz, a professor in the UTSA College of Education and Human Development, recently traveled to New York City for the annual American Education Research Association Conference (AERA), where her edited publication, "Talking Texts: How Speech and Writing Interact in School Learning" (Routledge/Taylor and Francis), was honored at a special reception at the Marriott Marquis on Times Square.

The Department of Bicultural-Bilingual Studies has received nearly $700,000 from the estate of Dr. A

Dr. Arcadia Lopez passed away in January of 2007 at the age of 97. Her donation to BBL will be used to fund scholarships for students pursuing a degree in bilingual education.
