Message from the Chair
Welcome to the Department of Interdisciplinary Learning and Teaching. We focus on teacher education from an interdisciplinary and social justice perspective. We offer a variety of programs at the undergraduate, graduate and doctoral levels that will help you reach your professional goals. The centers and projects in our department including La Plaza de Lectura/Reading Place, TEAM (Teacher Education Autism Model), and the San Antonio Writing Project provide opportunities to service the community and participate in research. Our department also houses several student organizations such as Kappa Delta Pi, IDS Ambassadors, Council for Exceptional Children, International Literacy Association, and a chapter of Autism Speaks. These organizations will engage you in civic responsibility and will help you make long lasting friendships as a Roadrunner!
I look forward to hearing from you.
Dr. Mari Riojas-Cortez, Chair
