William Cooke received his BS and MA degrees in Human Performance from the University of Houston-Clear Lake, and his PhD in Kinesiology/Exercise Physiology from Texas A&M University. He completed post-doctoral training in the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Cardiology, at the Medical College of Virginia at Virginia Commonwealth University.
My primary research interest is the autonomic regulation of human cardiovascular function. I am specifically interested in autonomic neural mechanisms controlling heart rate, arterial pressure, cerebral blood flow, and their oscillatory patterns and interactions. My projects can be separated into four primary emphasis areas: 1) applied physiology; 2) spaceflight physiology; 3) exercise physiology; and 4) battlefield medicine.
