Samuel DeJulio

Assistant Professor
Interdisciplinary Learning and Teaching

Sam DeJulio is an assistant professor of literacy education at The University of Texas at San Antonio in the department of Interdisciplinary Learning and Teaching. The primary focus of his research is literacy teacher preparation, with particular attention to field-based courses, field experiences, and connections with local communities. In his research he draws on ten years as a bilingual elementary school teacher and his ongoing work as a teacher educator. Recently, he has focused on literacy mentoring as a way for preservice teachers to engage in teaching practices that help them reimagine their work as literacy educators. Additionally, Sam collaborates internationally with teachers and researchers in Colombia, through on-line and face-to-face workshops. When he is not conducting his research or teaching, Sam engages in activities that are typical for academia, such as pursuing grant funding or writing faculty profiles in the third person. He absolutely loves his work as a researcher and a teacher educator, so please contact him if there is any way he can be of assistance.
