Biography


Barbara Herlihy, Ph.D., LPC-S, NCC, is Professor in Practice at the University of Texas at San Antonio.  She also holds the title of Professor Emerita at the University of New Orleans.  Her primary research interests are ethics, social justice and advocacy, and feminist/relational cultural theory. She is the co-author of three current textbooks and numerous book chapters and articles, primarily on the topics of ethics, diversity, and social justice.  She is a past recipient of the Southern Association for Counselor Education & Supervision (SACES) Courtland Lee Social Justice Award and the Association for Counselor Education and Supervision (ACES) Outstanding Mentor Award.  She is a Past Chair of the ACA Ethics Committee. ACA Foundation, and ACA International Committee.  She is a Past President of Chi Sigma Iota International Honor Society and currently serves as an Associate Editor for Counseling and Values.  She has presented seminars and workshops on ethical issues and other topics across the country and internationally, includng Mexico, Venezuela, Italy, and Malta.   Dr. Herlihy has experience as a school counselor, community mental health agency counselor, and private practitioner.
