Your Healing is Killing Me: A Performance Lecture and Literary Reading

Bookmark and Share

Presented by: Virigina Grise

Virginia Grise, winner of the 2010 Yale Drama Series Award, is the author of Blu, The Panza Monologues, and Conversations with Don Durito. She is the recipient of a Whiting Award and the Playwrights’ Center’s Jerome Fellowship. Grise, who grew up in San Antonio, earned an MFA in Writing for Performance from the California Institute of the Arts and lives in Brooklyn.

Your Healing is Killing Me is a performance manifesto based on the author’s journey as an artist and activist in search of healing. From lessons learned in San Antonio free health clinics and New York acupuncture schools, from the treatments and consejos of curanderas and community healers, Grise reflects on living with post-traumatic stress disorder, ansia, and eczema in the new age of trigger warnings, the master cleanse, and Kickstarter-funded self-care. Your Healing is Killing Me will be published by Plays Inverse Press in 2017.
