Assistant Professor (tenure-track) in Athletic Training

The Kinesiology, Health and Nutrition Department at The University of Texas at San Antonio invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Kinesiology with an emphasis in Athletic Training. The University of Texas at San Antonio is situated in a vibrant and growing community, serving a diverse, multicultural population that is reflected in our student population. While continuing its tradition of excellence in teaching, research, and community service, UTSA is rapidly moving toward classification as a doctoral/research intensive institution.


Responsibilities include teaching both undergraduate and graduate courses in Athletic Training, conducting research in Athletic Training related areas, pursuing external funding, participating in curriculum development, and performing university and community related services.


Required qualifications: 1) an earned doctorate in Athletic Training or related discipline (e.g. human movement science, biomechanics, rehabilitation science, kinesiology). ABD will be considered with anticipated graduation by August 15, 2018; 2) ability to teach Athletic Training related courses; 3) have current national certification in Athletic Training, 4) strong publication record, or publication potential; and 5) potential for obtaining external research funding.


Preferred qualifications include 1) ability to teach/mentor undergraduate and graduate students in Athletic Training; 2) Research experience or post-doctoral fellowship in areas that strengthen Athletic Training research; 3) evidence of securing funding for research; 4) ability to conduct collaborative research with existing faculty; 5) demonstrated research productivity through  publications and grant writing; and 6) experience working with Nationally Accredited Athletic Training Education Program.

Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and background. Summer employment is contingent on student demand and funding.
