Bio

Dr. Nancy K. Martin joned the UTSA faculty as an assistant professor in 1993.  She earned tenure and promotion to associate professor in 1997 and was promoted to full professor in 2011. Dr. Martin is a past president of the Southwest Educational Research Association and a past recipient of both the President's Distinguished Achievement Award for Teaching Excellence and the COEHD Service Award.

From 2000 to 2009, Dr. Martin served as associate dean in the COEHD.  In 2009, she assumed university level responsibilities as associate vice provost for the QEP & Core Curriculum. 

A former middle school teacher, Dr. Martin's research centers on the development of psychologically healthy learning environments and includes two foci:  K-12 teachers' classroom management styles and undergraduate student retention. Dr. Martin is also active in the San Antonio community. She participated in the San Antonio Master Leadership Program (Class VI), serves on the Board of the Children's Bereavement Center of South Texas (http://cbcst.org/), and is a member of the Canary Islands Descendants Association.
