Urbino, Italy Study Abroad

Teacher Education Study Abroad - Fall 2019 (more information coming soon)

Join the College of Education and Human Development for a new study abroad opportunity in the historic walled city of Urbino, Italy! Over the course of 13 weeks, students will have the opportunity to learn about teacher education in Italy, in addition to Italian culture, language, and life. The program is open to all COEHD undergraduate and graduate students, and students from other colleges pursuing a secondary certification.

About the Program:

Students will take courses with UTSA professors and engage in service learning in Urbino public schools, work with English language or Spanish language teachers, and observe content area courses. Undergraduate students will be able to complete 12 Semester Credit Hours (SCH) of coursework related to teacher preparation and Graduate students will be able to complete 6 – 9 SCH.

  • IDS 3713 (Interdisciplinary Inquiry)
  • BBL 3403 (Cultural and Linguistic Equity for Schooling)
  • EDP 3203 / EDP 3303 / ECE 3143 (Child Growth and Development)


  • Italian language and culture

  • Practicum opportunities in K-12 settings
  • ESL 5063 (Language and Content Area Instruction) and C&I 6133 (Curriculum in International Contexts)

Program Cost:

$9,500 (*Airfare, tuition, and fees not included)

Information Session:

The College of Liberal and Fine Arts will be hosting an information session for interested Fall 2019 students on November 30 at 4:00 pm in MS 4.02.64 (we will be discussing Financial Aid and Scholarships).
