COEHD Scholarships

Pending availability of funds, the ALL LEVEL scholarships open in January and close in March each year. The awards are disbursed in fall and are intended to cover students' tuition and fees. These scholarships are intended for current Undergraduates, Post-Baccalaureate and Master's level students in the College of Education and Human Development. Students from other UTSA Colleges may apply only if enrolled in the Teacher Certification Program at COEHD. Please click on the links below for application forms and other requirements.The scholarships listed under the Student Teaching Scholarship section below are open from January to March, and from late August to late October, pending availability of funds.



ALL LEVEL SCHOLARSHIPS

BESO Scholarships
- The Guadalupe Harber Scholarship, The Rodolfo Jacobson Scholarship, The Riojas Family Memorial Scholarship - Undergraduate students seeking bilingual teaching certificate – Must be a member of BESO


The COEHD Presidential Scholarship
- Incoming Freshmen and undergraduate students – Full-time and COEHD majors only. Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.


The COEHD USAA Foundation Scholarship
- Undergraduate students with COEHD majors or from other UTSA Colleges and accepted into the Teacher Certification Program. Junior and Senior standing, UTSA GPA or cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 and Financial Need.


The Harold T. and H. Joyce Cook Scholarship
- Undergraduate students pursuing an IDS degree seeking teacher certification at the elementary (EC-6th or 4-8) level. Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 and Financial Need.


The Carol Fitzgerald Dodge Endowed Scholarship


- Undergraduate or post-baccalaureate students seeking teacher certification at the middle school and high school levels in the following areas: Language Arts, Math, Science, Foreign Languages. Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 and Financial Need.


Dr. Arcadia Lopez Endowed Scholarship

- Undergraduate or post-baccalaureate students seeking teacher certification in Bilingual Education


The Jodie W. McCarley Scholarship for Future Coaches of Female Athletes
- Undergraduate students seeking a B.S. in Kinesiology with Teacher Certification and emphasis in P.E., with intent of becoming coaches of female athletes.


The Albar and Englantina Pena Memorial Scholarship
- Undergraduate students seeking bilingual teaching certificate; Member of BESO


The Endowed Pythagoras Scholarship for Math Teachers
- Undergraduate students, seeking high school math certification


The Katie N. Reed Endowed Scholarship
- Undergraduate COEHD students and entering Freshmen. COS and COLFA majors with Teacher Certification. Must be First Generation College Students. Minimum cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 and Financial Need. 


The Dianna Lynn Tidwell Endowed Scholarship
- Undergraduate students seeking special education certification. Open to ALL Texas high school graduates in the Special Education Certification Track at COEHD. Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.


The Belinda Villarreal-Nelson Memorial Scholarship
-Undergraduate students interested in becoming educators in the following areas: English, Math, Science, Bilingual Education, Special Education

 


STUDENT TEACHING SCHOLARSHIPS

Pending availability of funds, these scholarships are awarded in the spring and fall semesters.


The Academy for Teacher Excellence Scholarship
- Undergraduate students in their student teaching semester – must be a member of ATE TALC/TAILC and show financial need


The Dewey Davis, Ph.D., First Professor at UTSA, Endowed Scholarship 

- Undergraduate students seeking secondary science certification in their student teaching semester.


The Onderdonk Family Memorial Scholarship
- Undergraduate students in their student teaching semester 



GRADUATE SCHOLARSHIPS


Pending availability of funds, these scholarships are open for Master Level Students. Check deadline dates on applications.


The COEHD Presidential Scholarship
- Full-time, Masters-level students in all COEHD majors. Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0


The Albar Pena Memorial Scholarship
- Master level students seeking bilingual teaching certificate; Member of BESO
