Call for Proposals

Deadline November 15, 2017 - (Notified by December 15, 2017)

The program committee invites proposals for presentations contributing to knowledge in the following areas:


      • Critical perspectives on children’s literature for and about Latinos 
      • Library services to Latino children and their families
      • Authorship for authentic Latino children’s and young adult literature
      • Addressing emotional needs through Latino children’s and YA literature
      • Illustrations and other artistic representations in Latino children’s and YA literature
      • Literacy programs utilizing Latino children’s literature 
      • Literacy development within bilingual education
      • Educational opportunities and collaborations 
      • Latino children’s reactions to culturally-responsive literature 
      • Latino Youth: Social Issues and Media 
      • Extra-curricular bi-literacy programs in schools and libraries
      • Family Literacy and/or Cultural Literacy in a Latino context 
      • Writing Latino Children's and YA Literature, for Emerging Writers
      • The art of translation and authenticity in Latino children’s and YA literature 
      • Content-area teaching strategies using Latino children’s and YA literature
      • Other Topics Related to Latino Children's and YA Literature


As both a research and a practitioner conference, all proposals go through a peer review process. Due to the high number of proposals submitted, we appreciate your flexibility in being assigned to any of the three presentation days. However, if there is an unavoidable conflict, please indicate the date on which you would NOT be available to present in this proposal. We will attempt to honor your request.

To submit your proposal, click on the link and complete the online form and upload your presentation. Proposals should contain a title, a 200-word maximum abstract, and a presentation proposal in either APA or MLA style. The presentation should be a minimum of 500 words to a maximum of 1200 words. The deadline for proposal submissions is midnight Deadline November 1, 2017 with notification of acceptance on or before Notified by December 15, 2017.

Juried presenters (those submitting a proposal) must register and pay for the conference.
